For 40 years, this field has been home.

Now, we’re building the version it was always meant to be.

Tel Aviv Baseball has operated out of the Sportek — in the heart of the city, along the Hayarkon River — since 1984. It has produced national team players, Olympians, European champions, and Israel’s first-ever professional baseball player.

For most of that time, the field has gone dark the moment the sun sets.

That is about to change — but only with your help.

LOOKING TO THE FUTURE

With a newly elected board, invigorated parents, and updated permission from the Tel Aviv Municipality to revive the baseball field to its past grandeur, we are looking to improve the field and grow our teams.

WHO PLAYS BASEBALL IN TEL AVIV

Tel Aviv Baseball has teams for ages 4 through 18, as well as post-army players. The program has produced teams for the European Championships, players for the Israeli National Team and the Israeli 2020 Olympic Team, several U.S. college players, and recently, the first Israeli-born professional baseball player, now playing in New York.

REVIVING TEL AVIV BASEBALL

Tel Aviv Baseball proudly hosted the 2009 Maccabiah Games, but the field has significantly deteriorated since then. Today, we are growing our program across all age levels and are actively working to bring back both the Juniors (ages 16–18) and the Premier League (PL, ages 21+) to play in Tel Aviv. Currently, they are unable to play here due to inadequate facilities. In addition, we aim to better support the growing number of recreational pickup games held on Saturdays for young adults (post-army), which regularly draw hundreds of players.

The Immediate Priority: Field Lighting

The city of Tel Aviv has approved installation of three 12-meter light poles at Sportek — the first permanent lighting in the field’s history. This is a 40-year milestone. The installation is underway,

What we’re raising funds for:

• Three 12-meter structural poles
• Electrical infrastructure and wiring
• LED lighting units for full-field illumination
• Installation and safety compliance

What it makes possible:

• Evening and night practices for all age groups, year-round
• Night games for Little League — a first for Tel Aviv
• Return of Juniors (16–18) and Premier League (21+) to the city
• Expanded capacity to serve hundreds more players annually

Baseball in Tel Aviv has always been a community. Right now, that community carries extra meaning. Post-army players return to the field on their first free weekend. Children practice and compete and laugh in a city that needs that sound. Families gather. The game goes on. Keeping this field alive — and lit — is about more than sport. It’s about holding space for the people who need it most.
